Slight saturated peaks

There's some Saturation with the instruments as they reach loud or crowded peaks between each-other. Aside from that, this song is pretty awesome.

I only know two ways you could fix this, it's hard to tell them apart sometimes so I'll list both.

If you can, place a limiter or compressor on the main mixer channel.
So if it's just volume issues,
Here's the usual compressor settings I use;
-16.0dB
Ratio 3:1
Gain +9.0dB
Attack 18ms
Release 440ms
Type = Soft (if your compressor has this setting)
It should make the softer sounds a little louder while not allowing high end distortion

Now if it's instrument cramming causing this, you'll want to use an Equalizer(EQ) on each instrument. I recommend a Parametric EQ if you can, it's easier to see what you're doing.
Then you have to go through and decrease frequencies that class with each-other on each instrument. By Watching the spectrum visualization here on newgrounds, I'm guessing it's somewhere around mid-bass area from frequencies 230~560 from the bass, pads/reverb and chromatics.

I hope I was of some help to you.

Honestly, Dance music bores me

This isn't too bad, you have different elements that keeps it from completely loosing my interest.
I love the different effects and little things that come into place.
I do get a nagging tired feeling....Hey, I should listen to this kinda stuff before bed.

Excuse me, I'm going to assume you're using fruity loops again. What you can do for saving CPU is press the shortcut F10, go to the Audio tab on the left side and turn the settings to Use 32Bit buffer only, place the buffer length to about 976 samples(23~24ms) and turn priority down, make sure Safe overloads is turned on.
Turning down the priority will make it not sound as good while playing in fruityloops, and if that doesn't help you can play with the buffer settings to make it operational while the sound quality decreases.
You can change them back after finishing the song, preventing CPU overload.
If you're not using FLs, the general idea for cpu saving is the same.

Hahaha, thanks for the review mate, espically considering you dont really like the genre.
and your presumtion is correct, I do compose in FL9, I have only really been using it for about 6 months intermittently and am always trying to learn new techniques and also my way around the program its self.
Also I really appreciate the info on the system proformance because that will really come in handy ;)

Thanks again for the feedback mate!
Much appreciated!

Pretty cool

You used side-chaining on the pads right?
Also, you haven't mentioned what the name of the reverb plug-in is, I'm quite curious.

There's a little bit of distortion when the piano effects reach too high of a filter peak near the end, you might want to have a sort of limiter to keep it from hitting the peaks. Or just go around and have the filter on a slightly weaker/saturated setting.

As for a suggestion, though I don't know what program you're using if at all... The voice generator sounds very much like the FruityLoops generic version. A vocoder would be a viable suggestion. You could select a synth or make your own preset that still makes it sounds robotic but not the generic setting. Using the vocoder you could even use your own voice and make it a more pristine robot voice.
There's lots of tutorials around for using vocoders, and if you're not using Fruityloops, the tutorial for the fruityloops vocoder applies to allot of vocoders out there.

All in all, 5/5 9/10

grooveT3K responds:

Hello again ;) you are correct, I did use sidechaing on m ay pads, I do love to sidchain :)
as for the reverb plug in its the standard FL delay bank which is really very powerful when you start playing with it.
Also the robot voice is the voice synth that comes with FL aswell, I did concider using the vocodex and using my own voice but I havent really experimented with my own voice yet, its still early days in my production experience ;)
Finally at the end of the track when its just the piano playing the "distortion" type sound your hearing isnt actually distorting I layered a filter over the top that sort of closes the frequencys into a certain range to make it sound like its almost in a bubble thats moving...or something like that...but it is meant to sound like that ;)

Thanks again for your feedback mate and I will be having a look at your work in the coming days (when my internet isnt slowed) to see how someone that obviously has more knowledge in the area does his thing ;)

EDIT: I was listening to this in my headphones the other night and heard the distortion you mentioned, the filter I used in the end part does make some of the peaks a little distorted, I couldnt really notice it on the speakers I was using.

Awmigawd

It's so beautiful sounding, the whole thing is straight edge and trippy all the same.
I've been listening to it on loop for some time now. I love it, seriously love it!

you're in a new league now I see <3

InvisibleObserver responds:

Up, up and away!

WHY THE LOW RATING? D:

I lub this :3
It's very different, but even if it is dance music, you'll probably want to keep it in the video game area.
At 1:10 the pitch swings are a little fast, if you would slow them down to the point where they don't reach the top or so before the next not plays at that down-point. It just might be a bigger blast.

But thanks for the song that's different from the rest.

RoccoW responds:

To be honest, I thought it would be easy to change it back to "Video Game", but I soon discovered that was harder then I expected... I suck

Semitones

You did a nice job keeping my ears entertained, it was pretty bomb. nice breaks between leads and nice progression throughout the song.

0:46 Synth

Alright, it's ok to have it in there, the synth is too loud.
I cranked up the tune cause I was enjoying it and blew a speaker at around that time.

Thanks.

I'm also an EQ noob

I just learned allot of cool idea's from NikolaosTheDark.

But basically a decent Wobble is made of 3 oscillators, 2 with Filters one on both oscillators or one on each. And A Separate Oscillator for Subs that sometimes takes no part in the wobble.
If you're using WaspXT, assuming you're using fruityloops, for your wobble.
You set the wobbles to the higher tones and then the sub on a separate oscillator.
Like with DX10 VSTi or something
( I just now noticed you say that in your response to you know who, my bad )

As far as mastering a song, As soon as you think you have it finished you want to go back and listen to the song over through anything from the best stereo you own to the cheap headphones to make sure it's just right.

Makes me feel a bit hypocritical for saying you should do that as I don't always, but it's always a good practice.

EricFreeman responds:

I used sytrus to make all the synths I used in this song, but I understand what you're saying somewhat and I'll have to try that out on a future song.

Hm, I'll try using some crappy earbuds I have lying around the apt; thanks for the tip.

Thanks for listening, and for the advice!

It's Pretty Impressive

There's only one thing that bugs me, and that's the piercing high pitch that comes out from the voice. You might want to turn down some of those higher frequencies by just a little bit.
It's very good! You wouldn't believe how many horrible rappers I've had to listen to while looking for good ones.

Your voice is better than little Wayne, I noticed the comment earlier. Wayne is a little too whiny, while yours has clarity.
Good job!

Butterscotch yo!

I need more bass in my speakers ;)
You need less cramming and something more melodic.

madnessassault responds:

then listen to some of my other songs, cuz this one is all about cramming :P

I draw pinups, tomgirls, and the occasional smut. I make music for fun. No Requests.
